How to Cultivate Simplicity and Spaciousness in Your Creative Business

With the start of a new year, many brand design studios and creative business owners set their intentions, word of the year and goals for 2024. I’ve been feeling less pressure to solidify my 2024 plan, word of the year and even final goals right at the start of January 1. I have an overarching plan, but I feel like February and March will help fine tune and really start to feel in alignment with those 2024 business goals.

Instead of selecting just one word for my studio’s word of the year, I landed on two: simple and spacious. Let’s dive into what that means and how I plan to use those two works as a guide moving through the year.

Create Simplicity and Spaciousness within Your Creative Business or Brand Design Studio

How I plan to cultivate simplicity and spaciousness within my brand design studio.

I am always re-evaluating my studio’s process, core offerings, and even the tech I use to run my branding design studio. Less is more in my humble opinion, so the start of the year is always a good check in to see if anything needs to “go.”

Some questions I ask myself/my design studio:

  • Do any of my services no longer resonate with my target audience?

  • Is there a way I could be serving them better?

  • Are there any platforms or tech I’m using that I no longer need?

  • Am I paying for a subscription that doesn’t suit my business?

  • How do I feel with my current branding and website design client load?

Continue to Lean On Templates, Workflows and Third-Party Apps in a Simplified Way

With my brand design studio, I work one-on-one with photographers, interior designers and other creative professionals. My work is deeply rooted in strategy, purposefulness as well as simplicity. I want my clients to walk away from the experience of working together and feeling confident and excited–not overwhelmed or confused. By continuing to implement and simplify my entire process, it allows us both to feel at ease from start to finish. To do my best work, I have created my own templates for general documentations, workflows and even third-party apps like Acuity Scheduling to allow for ease, spaciousness and simplicity within my creative process, all while still having that personal, one-to-one connection.

Add Spaciousness to My Year with Longer Vacations and Scheduled Out of Offices

With any creative business, we often get wrapped into working that typical 9-5 schedule. Over the past few years, I’ve been able to work a 4-day work week, as well as take adequate time off during holidays, summer vacations and such. Continuing to be mindful of this moving forward will help with adding spaciousness in my studio’s schedule and give a more balanced and abundant approach to time management. I’m looking forward to taking a spring trip to Florida, and a handful of longer trips to the Midwest during the summertime.

I’m cheering you and your creative business on this season. I know we can achieve both success and growth while simplifying and allowing for spaciousness within our businesses this year.
