3 Ideas for Memorable Packaging
Creating a memorable brand should be on the top of any brand’s list, but even more so if you’re a product-based business. It’s how you’ll make that initial first impression with your client, whether it be on a shelf at a boutique, salon or through an online retailer.
In today’s post I’m sharing a few ways to make your brand’s packaging more memorable. But why put in the extra effort to hire a designer or extra funds towards custom packaging? Because if it’s done right, you’ll have better ROI--as your customers will turn into loyal fans and you guessed it, share online or in real life with all their friends.
Now, let’s get to the package design tips.
One.
Illustrations and Patterns
Let the packaging come to life with custom illustrations or patterns. By infusing brand illustrations or patterns, you’re guaranteed to be different than your competitors and create a statement piece to start the dialogue between you and your customer.
Aside from the product packaging itself, some other common ways to introduce patterns are on custom tissue paper, packaging tape or even the box/sleeve it comes in.
TWO.
Minimal yet Impactful Design
If your brand is more on the upscale, luxury or on the modern side--opting for a less-is-more approach may be the perfect way to draw attention to your target audience without having to steer away from your brand’s values. By going this route, you may have the opportunity to do some sort of luxury print feature such as letterpress, vellum or foil treatments.
THREE.
Go the Eco-friendly Route
Maybe your audience would rather see your packaging and resources in a more sustainable approach. Instead of pulling out all the bells and whistles for over-the-top packaging, it might be time to source some eco-friendly and recyclable materials instead. These prompts can help get the eco-friendly packaging wheels turning:
Do you source packaging that can easily be reused or up-cycled? Yes, it may initially be a bit more up front cost, but will hopefully be a better approach for keeping unnecessary items from landing in landfills.
Do you look for vendors that are utilizing renewable energy? Or find local vendors who use recyclable materials and printing techniques.
Do you omit any brand collateral and instead really work towards creating an online connection and community with your audience.
These are just a few ways you can start to brainstorm to create memorable packaging. And remember, keep your audience and brand values in mind as you start to navigate the world of packaging.
